Bennett Sousa is a 2014 LHP/1B with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from North Palm Beach, FL who attends The Benjamin School. Tall slope shouldered build, some present strength. Simple leg raise delivery, stays on line and balanced, accelerates to release, quick arm circle, extended 3/4's arm slot. Upper 80's fastball, touched 91 mph, good life down in zone, pounds the bottom of the strike zone with his fastball, works downhill very well. Curveball flashes good spin and bite, release point not consistent yet, potential plus change up, turns over with good life and deception. Very good athlete off the mound, can field his position. Left handed hitter, long swing with some strength, gets extended, shows pull power, squares the all up well, has some prospect hitting tools. High ceiling talent. Good student, verbal commitment to Virginia.
