Hinson is a strong, well developed young lefty with some good arm strength. He touched 83 mph in Chapel Hill and has a chance to throw pretty hard by the time he gets through two more years of high school. Hinson is a bit raw mechanically and tends to get under a lot of his pitches and correcting this will help him right away. Hinson threw a curveball at 68 mph and a 77 mph change up. It wouldn’t surprise us if we found out that Hinson is a pretty good high school hitter, too. He generates good bat speed with some lift in his swing and can hit the ball a long way if he gets a pitch in his zone. He seems to know what he's doing on the field. Only an "05" Ryan is a good student.
