Reece Karalus is a 2012 RHP with a 6-3 230 lb. frame from North Bend, WA who attends Mt Si HS. Extra strong build, especially in the lower half, carries his weight pretty well. Back turn delivery with low hands, full smooth arm action, low effort thrower, uses strong lower 1/2 well, will shorten arm stroke at times, inconsistent release between high 3/4's and 3/4's. Steady upper 80's fastball, touched 90 mph, mostly straight with occasional run, changes arm slot between curveball and slider (or hard and soft curveballs), drops release on harder pitch, some spin but will need consistency. Maintains arm speed on change up and gets some arm side run. Potential to keep improving on the mound. College level hitting tools, strong swing with LCF power, makes hard contact, uppercut swing plane, calm hitting approach, will lose some balls. Good student, signed with Santa Clara.
