Curtiss Irving is a 2013 RHP/IF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Greenfield, IN who attends Greenfield Central HS. Larger thick build, good present strength. Full delivery with full stop at the top, compact arm action, hides the ball well. Steady 82-84 mph fastball, good sink when low in the zone. Throws both curveball and slider, curveball has tight spin and deep, hard biting action. Slider has some tilt and bite with flatter plane. Nice change with sink and arm speed. Three quality secondary pitches and throws them all for strikes, mixes it up well. Good defensive actions at first base, 7.26 runner. Shows strength at the plate, can drive the ball to the gaps, solid game contact, gets extension out front, has an idea how to hit. Nice all around player with mature skills, development of more velocity will be key to pitching future. Good student.
