Sean Baumann is an athletic 6'0/185 C/OF from Tampa, FL. He ran an outstanding 6.73 in Tropicana and showed a good accurate arm. He is very quick behind the plate and does a nice job of receiving quality pitchers. He showed a compact line drive swing and made lots of solid contact against high level pitching. His running and athletic ability make the outfield another potential position. Sean is an outstanding student in addition to being a highest level prospect.

Sean Baumann is a 2005 C from Tampa, FL. Sean was a late addition to the showcase and did well enough to earn an invitation to the Perfect Game National Showcase based on his performance. He’s a good athlete with a variety of very good baseball tools. Baumann ran a 6.75-60, which is obviously exceptional for a catcher and can also play the outfield well. His arm strength is very good and his pop times were consistently under 2.00. Baumann could improve his throwing even more with a quicker release. At the plate, Bauman has more power than his medium athletic frame indicates. He has quick, strong hands and a level, short swing. Baumann hit one ball in a game that was caught near the centerfield fence and had another hard hit for a double. This kid can play at a very high level and could create a lot of interest for next years draft. Sean is an excellent student.

Sean Baumann -- Baumann is a right handed hitting junior catcher from Florida who is a top athlete for his position. He has good strength, especially in his lower half and hips. He looks like a successful high school running back type of athlete. Baumann has solid defensive tools, with good arm strength and compact actions. Better footwork would improve his pop times right away. At the plate, Baumann hits from an open stance with a long stride and a good path to the ball. He shows good gap to gap power now and could start launching some balls with better extension to his swing. Baumann crushed a couple of balls to the middle of the field during games that he was right on. He also runs MLB average or better. Baumann is an outstanding student who should get long looks from a variety of high level colleges. He could develop into a very good draft pick over the next year.
