Steele Myers is a 2008 SS/P with a 5'11'', 180 lb. frame from Chapel Hill, NC who attends Charles E. Jordan HS. He has a strong, mature build with good strength throughout and will have to work on maintaining his looseness and flexibility as he gets older. Myers uses his strength well at the plate and has advanced hitting toos. He has a very busy set up with a htich to start his swing and can simplify his approach getting the bat started. Myers takes a very aggressive swing at the ball and generates very good bat speed. He consistently hit the ball hard and showed the ability to run on balls and hit with some power. Defensively, Myers has third base tools in the infield. His upper body stiffness comes into play in his actions, although he has some arm strength across the diamond. Myers also shows pitching prospect tools. He throws from a high 3/4's to overall hand release point with a full delivery that picks up energy and speed the closer he gets to release. His curveball is his best pitch and he throws it often. It has a consistent hard downer break at 74 mph and it's better the harder he threw it. It's a good pitch and hitters struggled to make contact. Myers started off throwing his fastball in the low 80's but loosened up by the 2nd inning and was more 84-86 mph. He was inconsistent with his fastball release point and frequently missed up, something he didn't do with his curveball. He profiles best now as a reliever who can come in with his curveball and get outs. Myers is a hard nosed competitor on the field and plays to win.

Steele Myers is a 2008 SS/RHP from Jordan HS in Chapel Hill, NC with a 5'10", 175 lb. frame. Steele has a thick athletic build and was more physically mature than most of the players at the event. At the plate Steele hits from an open stance and has very good strength in his swing. He has good bat speed and really gets his hands extended well at impact. From a power standpoint Steele gets the ball in the air easily and can drive the ball to any part of the field. In the field Steele shows balanced actions to go along with a strong arm. He is somewhat slow releasing the ball at times and could work on this part of his game. Steele has the type of tools that would also profile well as a corner outfielder. On the mound Steele shows good arm speed complimented with a nice downhill plane. He has a solid CB and can command his pitches well. Sometimes Steele will rush his delivery to the plate and he would be more consistent if he slowed down a little bit. Steele is a very good overall athlete and will be a highest level college prospect.

Steele Myers is a 5-10/175 two way SS/RHP from Chapel Hill, NC with 7.44 sixty speed. We have seen Steele before and he continues to develop. Still young, 2008, he has very good strength for his age. Steele handles the bat well and shows college level projection at the plate. A RH hitter he shows college bat speed with a open to close approach. He has a very good swing plane and attacks the ball. Has very good present power and should only get better. Steele has strong legs and a body that is developing strength. He shows good arm strength, 76if, and solid glove in the infield. His actions may be best suited for 3b and he needs to shorten up his arm action to help with a quicker release. Very smooth actions moving into the ball. On the mound he has good arm speed and above ave velocity. He showed 84fb, 66cb, and 69ch. Stays around the plate and with continued velocity gains, he could be a pitcher at next level. Current spot seems to be as hitting third baseman. Named to Top Prospect game.

Myers is a freshman infielder from North Carolina with good present strength for his age. He isn’t a quick twitch athlete but has shown us a number of times that he has good athletic balance, such as in charging balls in the infield or running the bases. Myers creates bat speed at the plate, with some extension through the ball, and does a good job using his strong hands. His overall swing mechanics are still a bit raw and developing, as you would expect to see at his age. We’d especially like to see him more consistent in keeping his eyes on plane during his load. Defensively, Myers shows polished defensive actions in the field and plenty of arm strength. How he matures and how he develops his quickness will determine which position he profiles best at. Myers also threw 3 effective innings in relief, striking out 5 hitters. He had good arm strength for a freshman, pitching in the 80-82 mph range on his fastball and showing a sharp breaking 66-71 mph curveball, along with good command. Pitching is definitely something that adds to his overall prospect package at this point.

Steele Myers is a 2008 shortstop/right handed pitcher from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who was one of the youngest players at the Southeast Underclass Showcase. He has a strong, well developed upper body with broad shoulders and may be near his overall growth potential already. Myers carries himself like a ball player and has very advanced skills. Myers missed batting practice because of school obligations, but made solid line drive contact in games as a front foot hitter with strong hands and good bat speed. Defensively, Myers showed very good hands and fielding fundamentals and made all his plays smoothly and confidently. On the mound, Myers' delivery was a bit raw and frenetic, but he showed his arm strength by throwing 82 mph with a very sharp downer curveball at 68-69 mph. There will be some question about how much Myers projects physically, but his skills and raw tools project solidly at the college level in a couple of years.
