Joe Erickson is a 2012 RHP/3B with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Dowling Catholic. Solid, athletic build with strength and room to fill. Pitches from low 3/4 with long arm action in the back and solid arm speed. Slightly across body delivery with good extension out front. Sinker/slider pitcher with good command. Smooth delivery with easy arm action. Very good slider with sharp, early, horizontal break. Very good feel for slider. Flashed changeup as #3 pitch. Raw at the plate but does have pull power. Quick hands with an uppercut swing plane. Pitcher to watch.

Joseph Erickson is a 2012 RHP/3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Dowling Catholic HS. Solid athletic build, room to get stronger. Long loose arm action, extended 3/4's release point, good hip turn. Low to mid 80's fastball, touched 86 mph, early tailing action, short slurve type breaking ball, best when he stays on top of it. Nice change up, good arm speed and sinking action, mixes pitches well and throws strikes. Simple swing mechanics, good flow to the ball, some present bat speed, ball jumps a bit. Should keep improving in all areas. Good student.

Leg raise/back turn delivery, loose flowing arm action, tall on release, mid 3/4's slot, low effort. Consistent 82-84 mph fastball, big and hard sink/run on fastball, same type of movement on change up, throws to mid-plate and lets movement take over. Tends to get under curveball, good spin when on top. Similar to former ML closer Doug Jones, should keep improving. Good student.
