Steve Vitale is a lean athletic 6'0/175 MIF from East Meadow, NY. This middle infielder from New York is a ball player, the real thing! He made several outstanding defensive plays in Tropicana Field games at both second and short and showed a quick, polished bat. He ran a fast 6.69, so the pro scouts can’t write him off as a college guy. He has a MLB caliber arm that projects to get even stronger. He has exceptional hand quickness in the field and at the plate. He's an outstanding defensive inf who knows what he's doing. He hit very well against some of the highest ranked pitchers in Tropicana Field. He's an ideal very highest level inf. and top of the order bat. Scouts might fall in love with this kid. Steve is a good student.

Steve Vitale -- Vitale is a 6-0 junior infielder from New York with a nice balance of tools and the type of projectable, athletic body that’s going to enable him to get even better. His best tool right now is probably his left handed bat. Vitale hits out of a wide stance with a smooth swing that generates good bat speed and pull power. He hit very well in the games down in Fort Myers. Vitale’s arm strength and foot quickness are both very solid for his age and he does a good job of making the routine plays look easy. Depending on how his bat develops, he could even end up at third base in the future, though he runs and throws well enough to play SS. Definite big follow for top colleges and pro scouts. Vitale is also a very good student.

Vitale is a shortstop with a very lean and strong body who showed some of the best overall athleticism in the showcase. He ran a 6.89 in the 60, took that speed to the bases well and showed good body strength in the infield and with the bat. His arm plays very well. He made a good throw from 3B on the run, his glove was solid and he made one diving catch that was a gem. At the plate, he showed good bat-speed. He smoked a few good line drives in BP. He has a nice swing that looked even better against live pitching in the game. He showed his running ability and instincts on the bases. He projects very well. He was selected to the Top Prospect game as a Shortstop. Steve is a very good student.

Good "05" SS with some tools and a very athletic body. Runs real good and has a fairly strong arm. Interesting hitter, creates bat speed and shows gap power potential. Right now his swing is a little long, but the natural ability is there. Keep on top of him he could really develop.
