Shows potential behind the plate, gives a low target despite his height, looks balanced, receiving skills need improvement. Outstanding arm strength, needs to get a little more under control with throws. Left-handed batter, hits from a wide base, shows good balance, a little heavy on his front foot at times. Very confident approach, shows legitimate power potential, gets good leverage, impressive bat speed. High upside hitter who will continue to get better, raw tools are there. Very good student.

Chad Spanberger is a 2014 C with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Granite City, IL who attends Granite City HS. Tall strong athletic build, room to fill. Potential high level left handed bat. Good bat speed, good swing mechanics, good pullside power, good extension, pulls and lifts. Rotational swing, swung it well against 90-93 mph pitching. Stays inside the ball well, big power potential but uses more of a contact approach at present. Good receiving setup, solid receiver, needs to be more active with feet defensively, relies on glove at times. Long arm action, loose projectable arm, solid present arm. Excellent student, interesting young prospect to follow.
