Simon Mathews is a 2013 RHP with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from West Haven, CT who attends Hopkins School. Lean athlete with room to fill. Big, quick leg kick to start motion. low 3/4 slot, funkiness in delivery and arm. Creates deception and is tough for hitters to pick up. Arm works well and shows looseness. Fastball has sink and consistent velocity. Good fastball command. Slider is good No. 2 pitch, will get outs. Slider shows sharp late break down in zone. Good student.
