2012 California Underclass Showcase
Thomas Sprague is a 2014 SS/OF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Encino, CA who attends Viewpoint. Tall lean athletic build. High energy fielder, loose actions, short arm action with good release time, arm strength projects, good footwork and routes to the ball, good angles. If arm strength improves he can stay at shortstop at the college level, if not his defensive actions will serve him well at 2B. Solid bat speed, tends to get long but showed ability to shorten up with two strikes in game ABs, drives the middle. Had a couple of balls that registered off the bat velocities of 88 and 90 mph in games. Energy level should allow him to perform beyond level of his solid tools and projects to improve. Very good student.
