Tim Barnum is a 2007 RHP with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who attends Xavier High School. Barnum is a very athletic player with a lively body. On the mound he is a right handed pitcher who throws from a tight 3/4 arm slot. He has a slow paced delivery, and he stays balanced over the rubber. Barnum has good arm speed with present arm strength that produces a fastball that topped out at 88 mph, while working from 84-87 mph. He also flashes a sharp slider at 79 mph with tight break. His arm give him good upside on the mound. Offensively he has nice rhythm and balance hitting from the right side. He shows bat speed through the zone and attacks pitches. His swing stays short and compact making consistent line drive contact, especially to the pull side. Barnum has two-way potential at the next level. He is a good student as well.

Tim Barnum is a 2007 RHP/2B/SS with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids IA, who attends Xavier HS. He has an athletic build with some present strength. Barnum is a solid two-way prospect who grades out equally well on both sides of the ball. He's been used primarily as a reliever on the mound and comes in with an aggressive, attack the hitter approach. His fastball reaches 88 mph with good life and he throws a 73 mph slurve type breaking ball that has good sharpness at times. Barnum's command is raw but his arm strength is obvious. At shortstop, Barnum has good feet and balance and plenty of raw arm strength. His actions are smooth and he has the tools to play the position at the next level. Offensively, Barnum hits out of a spread, no stride approach and does a good job using his hands to hit. He takes an aggressive line drive swing and makes solid contact to all fields. Barnum is a good talent with an aggressive approach to the game and should be successful at the next level. He is also a good student.

Tim Barnum is a 2007 P/2B/SS with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids IA, who attends Xavier HS. He has a middle infielder's body and is a primary middle infielder for his high school team. Barnum's ultimate future might be on the mound, however. He throws from a slow, well paced delivery with some effort on release. Barnum's arm angle varies between mid 3/4's and low 3/4's. The lower he goes on his release point, the better his stuff gets and we would encourage him to stay at the lower release point. Barnum's fastball was steady in the 84-86 mph range and had nasty boring and sinking action at times, the kind that will break wood bats with some regularity. He tended to straighten up a bit when he got higher on his release and his velocity was just as good, if not better, from lower. Barnum's breaking ball was a 75-76 mph slider that was a bit inconsistent but was very sharp on occasion. When he develops consistency with this pitch it will be a major weapon for him. Barnum's stuff and pitching style will make right handed hitter's very uncomfortable in the box and they won't like hitting against him at all. Barnum comes at hitter's with an aggressive, closer type approach and this might be his best role, especially if he's still playing in the field. He's a very good follow and college coaches need to pay close attention! Barnum is also a good student.
