2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Blake Booher is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Hurst, TX, with good overall athletic actions. He did show slight effort throwing from shortstop during drills and has an unusual herky jerky delivery from the mound as well. Booher has a short, tight arm stroke, but produces very quick arm speed and a fastball that was between 83-86 mph from a mid ¾ release point. Booher’s curveball was 69-70 mph early in his three inning stint, but he was throwing it 74-75 mph later with good sharpness. His 72 mph change up also had good deception to it. If you can get over Booher’s unusual mechanics and arm action, his stuff is real good and hard to hit. Booher also hit the ball well himself, showing a nice swing and making consistent hard contact, including three hits in the showcase games. Blake is a very good student.
