Travis Tartamella is a 2006 catcher from Los Osos HS in Alta Loma, CA, with a 6'0", 198 lb. frame. He's one of the top defensive catchers in the country in what is shaping up to be a very solid group of catching prospects. Tartamella has top level arm strength at 80 mph and was consistently below 1.90 on his pop times, with a best of 1.83. He's a very polished receiver with soft hands and an aggressive approach to blocking balls. He shows good leadership ability. Offensively, Tartamella has a busy approach, with a hand hitch and big leg lift tirgger. He uses his strength well in his swing and has an aggressive pull approach. He showed the ability to stay back on breaking balls and hit them solidly. Tartamella projects some power down the road. He is a very good student who has signed to attend Pepperdine.

Travis is a 2006 grad from Alta Loma, California with very good present strength and the kind of physical durability you like to see in a young catcher. He's big boned and can add more strength in the future. Travis's bat is very advanced for his age. He is an aggressive swinger who attacks the ball with above average bat speed. The ball jumps well on contact and he's going to hit with some power down the road. He's also a fast enough runner that he's going to contribute on the bases as well. Defensively, Travis brings great energy to the catching position. He also brings good quickness and arm strength and his pop times were very consistent around 1.90. He'll throw some runners out. Travis has the kind of tool package that is going to get the professional scouts interested. He's a good student who should also have all the college options that he wants. Very Good Prospect!
