Tyler Kipke is a 2005 outfielder/shortstop from Woodbury, Minnesota, with a strong, athletic 6'1", 175 lb. frame. He showed some good arm strength (80 mph) from the outfield with good carry. He also played shortstop during one of the games and showed plus actions defensively with quick hands and a strong arm. He runs well and shows very good instincts. He hits from an upright stance with well above average bat speed and a slight loft in his swing that helps produce some power currently. He shows good instincts on the bases and got great jumps on balls in the dirt. He can play at the next level and Tyler is a strong student.

Tyler Kipke: Kipke was one of only a few non pitcher/catcher prospects at the Showcase but he definitely managed to impress. He’s a junior outfielder from Minnesota with a lively athletic body. Kipke hits from the left side of the plate and has a very smooth, quick swing. He stays inside the ball well and centers the bat on the ball very consistently. It’s hard to imagine that Kipke doesn’t hit for a very high average in game situations. We were told he runs a 6.9 - 60. His body type and athletic actions indicate that 6.9 might be the high side and we plan to see him run at a couple of events this coming summer. Kipke took a turn on the mound and showed nice arm strength, touching 86 mph with very raw pitching mechanics. He also has catching experience and took his turn behind the plate. Versatility is nice but this young prospect looks like a top of the order outfielder. Tyler is a good student and needs to be followed very closely.
