Weidig is a 6-0, 190 lb senior right handed pitcher from Texas with a strong build. He ran the 60 in 7.53 and threw 79 mph during infield drills and plays third base when he’s not pitching. On the mound, Weidig threw 3 very effective innings. He has a somewhat short arm action that is quick and efficient and solid pitching mechanics. Weidig’s fastball topped out at 84 mph and had some hand side movement at times. His best pitch was 75-77 mph slider that was very sharp at times. Weidig used his slider a lot and probably doesn’t give his fastball enough credit. His slider and aggressive pitching style might make Weidig well suited to come out of the bullpen and get some quick outs, especially against right handed hitters. Weidig is an excellent student with interest in some of the top academic schools in the country.
