William Long is a lean athletic 5'10/175 MIF from Valrico, FL. We've seen him a lot over the years and we think he is one of the best pure baseball players in the country. Long reminds us of Josh Johnson, the Royals 3rd round pick in 2004, in that he’s a shorter middle infielder with five solid tools who is present strong and can really play the game. Will is a polished professional looking player who has no weaknesses. He plays the game hard and there are no questions about his outstanding makeup. He's a guy we could easily rank in the top 50 in the nation. William Long might just play in the Big Leagues some day. He will be a great asset to any college in the country. William is a very good student as well.

Long is a very projectable switch hitting middle infielder who has a lot of polish to his game. We’re not really sure where Long’s going to end up on defense but we’re pretty sure that he’s going to be a very good player and a solid hitter. He has a very smooth swing from both sides of the plate and better bat speed from the left side. Long has shown us a steady ability to make solid line drive contact against top quality live pitching. Defensively, Long has smooth gliding actions and good hands and footwork. His arm strength does not project out for shortstop but Long could be a very good defensive second baseman if he maintains his lower body life or similar type of third baseman if he keeps getting stronger and becomes an offensive force. He is likely to do both. He runs well, in fact he does everything very well. Excellent "05" prospect and a good student.

William Long -- We’ve seen Long frequently over the past year and he swung the bat as well as he ever has in Fort Myers. He had above average MLB bat speed from the right side and really hit the ball hard. Long’s power projection grows every time we see him and we think he’s going to hit home runs down the road. He got out on his front foot a bit from the left side with more of a contact swing but he’s shown us power from that side before, too. Long has big league average arm strength from shortstop and smooth actions. He could well end up at either third base or second base depending on how his strength and quickness develops. Long's 7.2 60 is more like 6.9 or better on a good surface. He is a very strong student as well. High level prospect!

Excellent "05" INF who does everything well. Good runner, good arm and outstanding instincts. Very athletic with a good strong baseball body. Switch hitter with a nice looking swing. The ball jumps off his bat. Could develop into one of the top prospects in America by the time he graduates. Watch him closely.
