Zach Von Tersch is a 2006 RHP/1B with a 6'5'', 200 lb. frame from Cedar Falls, IA, who attends Cedar Falls High School. Great pitcher's frame, long legs, very projectable, loose easy arm, controlled nice delivery, nice downhill angle to the plate, improving breaking ball (75 mph), mixes pitches well, throws CB in under hands of LHH, one of the most projectable players in the nation, solid velocity now (90 mph), but is only going to get better, great upside. Zach Von Tersch is a 2006 RHP/1B with a 6'5'', 200 lb. frame from Cedar Falls IA, who attends Cedar Falls HS. He has an outstanding pro profile type pitcher's frame and projects very good strength. Von Tersch has a easy delivery with a long, smooth arm stroke with some wrap in back. He has an extended 3/4's release point and really accelerates his arm well through his release. Von Tersch's fastball topped out at 90 mph at the showcase with some tail on the inside half. He threw both a curveball at 76 mph and a slider at 82 mph. Both were very sharp at times, with his slider showing especially good potential. Von Tersch is a quality athlete who can run and hit as well. He's an outstanding student.

Zach Von Tersch is a 6-4, 190 lb senior right handed pitcher from Iowa with an ideal pitcher's body and excellent projection. His arm is very fluid and loose, with a little bit of wrap in back. He throws from a high 3/4's release point with very good downhill plane. Von Tersch isn't always consistent in his mechanics; he'll throws a bit across his body and not always get his lower body cleared, but his delivery is pretty clean for a young pitcher who is just starting to develop. Von Tersch's fastball was steady at 87-89 mph at the showcase and was pretty straight. His best pitch was a 74-76 mph curveball that was very, very sharp and nasty at times. With the velocity and big power break it's a strike out pitch for him against good hitters. Von Tersch's change up is developing. We don't know if Von Tersch will reach the levels that recent Iowa pitchers such as Jeremy Hellickson, Zach Hammes or Joel Hanrahan did in the draft, but he could develop into that level of prospect if he keeps improving at the rate he presently is. Von Tersch is also an outstanding student who would qualify at many of the elite level baseball/academic schools.

Von Tersch is a junior right handed pitcher from Iowa with a lanky and very projectable 6-4, 190 lb frame. He’s just recently emerged on the prospect radar and should be getting lots of attention in the future. Von Tersch has some wrap in back but is very loose and smooth out front from a high ¾’s release point. He has very good arm speed and threw 83-84 mph in Cedar Rapids. We’d seen him 85-86 two weeks before in the Iowa Spring League. His breaking ball is a big hard sweeping 74 mph curveball that has the potential to become a very good pitch for him with some refinement. Von Tersch will also turn over a 2-seam fastball at 78-80 to give a different look and also threw a 75 mph straight change. We’ve seen Von Tersch play third base and hit and know that he’s an above average athlete, which will help his projection as a pitcher. Midwest colleges need to take note and Von Tersch is an excellent student as well. Top Follow.
