Carson Griffis is a 2016 OF/RHP/C with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Birmingham, AL who attends Homewood HS. Medium, athletic build with broad shoulders and nice present strength on his frame. Strong runner, posted a 6.90 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, uses a small crow hop to gain momentum, quick arm with present strength and gets on top of throws, quick release with some effort. Also pitched, right-hander who works from an up tempo delivery and throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a short arm action in the back. High leg lift, gets on top of fastball and generates downhill plane, comes out of hand well, topped at 82 mph. Works glove side well, varies shape and speed on curveball with intent, shows 11-5 break with depth. Pounds strike zone. Right-handed hitter, starts with a a high hand set and shows a patient approach. Upper body swing, line drive swing plane, creates line drive contact to pull side with sound bat speed coming through the zone. Very good student.
