Britton Ballard is a 2008 RHP with a 6'3'', 170 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Prairie HS. He has a thin, lean upper half and some strength and width to his lower half. Ballard has a loose, free wheeling delivery with lots of upper body rotation. He opens up early but maintains good direction to the plate and gets good extension out front on his release. He could be more lower half into his delivery and release. Ballard's fastball topped out at 82 mph and was consistently 80-81. He gets some running action to his fastball. Ballard's breaking ball was a 70 mph curveball that had soft spin but was consistent and he had good command of it. We didn't see a change up. He threw strikes and challenged hitters over the plate. Ballard should keep improving as he gets stronger and continues to make adjustments.
