Cook is a tall and strong 6-7, 220 lb right handed pitcher from New Jersey who also plays some first base. He throws from a tall and fall delivery with a high 3/4's release point. Cook's balance isn't very good in his delivery and he falls off steadily to the first base side, which hurts his overall stuff. His fastball topped out at 80 mph but was mostly 74-75. He also threw slider in the upper 60's and a 69-72 mph change up. It looks to us as if Cook has more potential as a power hitting first baseman who could also play the outfield. He's a very mobile athlete for his size and ran the 60 in 7.39. Cook has some serious juice in his bat that he was able to show both during BP and in the games. He tends to get out on his front side early but uses his strength and long levers well and takes a full, aggressive swing. Cook looks to pull the ball and pulls hit hard with over the fence power. When he learns to stay back on the ball some he'll be reaching the fences or clearing them to all fields. We need to see more arm speed to project him as a pitcher despite his 6-7 frame but you don't need to do any projection to see that he has plus power potential and is a good athlete. Good follow, Good student.
