Alex Tucker is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Dalton, GA who attends McCallie School. Tall medium build, has some present strength with room for more. 7.30 runner, quick release on his throws, quickness in release over arm strength, throws carry well, compact release, tends to get his hands down late for the ball but makes plays cleanly. Right handed hitter, spread straight stance, short quick swing, repeats his mechanics well, works the gaps well, high contact swing approach and will flash a bit of power at times, can use his lower half better as it tends to be late firing at times. Also pitched, compact arm circle, stays tall on his back side and drives to the plate with drop and drive mechanics, tight high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 83 mph, mostly straight, keeps his fastball down in the zone well. Short breaking curveball and has some feel for his change up, throws strikes with all three pitches. Well rounded player with some skills. Good student.
