Collin Clayton is a 2016 OF/SS with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Edwardsville, IL who attends Edwardsville HS. Athletic, long, and lean build with present strength and significant physical projectability. Hits from a slightly open, relaxed stance with a rotational swing. Makes consistently hard contact in game situations. Shows very good bat speed with an aggressive approach. Will hit to all fields with authority. Projects to hit for both average and power as he physically matures. Battles in the box and has the ability to foul off tough pitches, as well as go the other way with 2 strikes. Went through positional workouts both in infield and outfield. Excellent arm strength from OF, topping at 87 MPH with consistent online throws from an overtop arm slot with a quick release. Gets to the baseball quickly, covers a lot of ground, and shows athletic actions overall. In the infield, the excellent arm was on display again, topping at 85 MPH throwing downhill and online to the target. Fields cleanly with smooth overall actions. Very athletic, quick-twitch prospect who projects both in the field and with the bat. Very good student. Named to National Indoor Showcase Top Prospect list.
