2005 South Underclass Showcase
Garcia is a 6-2, 200 lb junior third baseman from Texas with very good raw strength. He has a broad shouldered build that immediately gets your attention but has loose, easy actions on the field. Garcia is a very good runner for his size at 7.09 and showed a lot of range in the field, especially going to his left. His hands seem to work on defense better when he's moving after a ball than when he's stationary. Garcia showed very good bat speed at the plate with quick hands and plus raw power potential. He has a very smooth load and coil that leaves him in good position to hit. He's an aggressive hitter who hit the ball very hard to right centerfield. Garcia could develop into a middle of the order impact hitter with some refinement and more experience; the tools are all there. Garcia also pitched a couple of innings and although his pitching mechanics were very raw, he was able to show his natural arm strength with a 83 mph fastball. Garcia played hard and really seemed to be having fun on the field. Named to the Top Prospect Game. Very good follow.
