Garrett Houston is a 2016 1B/C/OF with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Peachtree City, GA who attends Starrs Mill HS. Large frame with strong, well-proportioned build throughout body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.09 seconds. Sets up to hit with tall, upright stance and high back elbow, takes big stride forward into swing but is inconsistent with bringing backside with him. Has strength in swing, especially in upper body, would unlock more jump off the barrel with better utilization of lower half. Pull-field approach with line drive swing plane, has some ability to control the barrel, best contact on a line into left field. Even set up behind the plate, stays low with good flex, receives well and comes out of crouch cleanly and efficiently with good footwork and overall quickness. Shows good arm strength on throws down to 2B, popped as low as 1.95 with good accuracy. Also showed well at 1st base, shows clean hand actions with agility necessary to turn and throw. 1B velocity up to 79 MPH. Very good student.
