Zayne Watson is a 2018 OF/RHP with a 5-10 172 lb. frame from The Woodlands, TX who attends The Woodlands HS. Medium-compact frame with slender, athletic build. Quality footspeed and quick-twitch explosion, ran a 6.96 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, has good defensive tools and insincts. Works to the ball well and comes through the baseball upon release, solid arm strength with accurate throws to the bases, up to 83 mph in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, very spread stance, quiet hands with slight drift. Has hand quickness and can turn on the baseball, shows pull-side approach and repeats mechanics well. Line-drive swing plane with ability to impact the ball, should develop more power at physical maturity, projects well at the plate. Also pitches, works to a 3/4 arm slot with deeper arm-action and slight presentation backside. Has quality armspeed and good direction, burst down the rubber, uses lower half well in delivery. Fastball up to 82 mph, shows some armside run. Flashed a low-70s slider with depth and late tilt, threw strikes and attacked the strike zone well. Named to the National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
