Jackson Clausen is a 2016 3B/RHP with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Urbandale, IA who attends Johnston HS. Compact strong athletic build. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide base and tends to get his weight moving forward early, aggressive swing approach, creates bat speed with a short path to the ball, ball comes off the barrel hard and he has the strength to drive it, will keep improving as he gains better timing and balance. Fast paced delivery on the mound, rocks and leans back with a deep arm stab, hides the ball well, showed better stuff and command from the stretch without all the variables of his delivery. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, mostly straight with occasional tail. Slider was best breaking ball with some bite and tilt to it, sweeping curveball with softer spin. Good student.
