D'Mond LaFond is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Refugio, TX who attends Refugio HS. Long athletic build with lots of physical projection. Fast paced delivery with a high 3/4's arm slot, very good arm speed coming through. Low 90's fastball, topped out at 93 mph, throws to both sides of the plate and has good feel for his fastball. Slurve type breaking ball has good spin, especially at lower velocities, and some downward bite, will throw through the break at times. Rare change up. Very athletic with two-way potential, has very good raw bat speed in an extended swing, has a way to go as a hitter but the potential is there. Just coming back from TJ surgery and not fully stretched out, there might be the potential for plenty more stuff in his arm with full health and more repetitions. Follow closely. Good student.
