Zach Escobar is a 2016 1B with a 6-1 240 lb. frame from Magnolia, TX who attends Magnolia HS. Large, strong build with broad shoulders and present strength on frame. Ran a 7.78 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, bends at waist and fields the ball out front, short steps to the ball, accurate throws with strength and carry from a full arm action. Also pitched, throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a short arm action in the back. Simple leg raise delivery, hides the ball well, short stride down the mound, stays tall at release. Works down to glove side with fastball that topped at 79 mph with occasional arm side run. Flashed an 11-5 curveball with late break at 67 mph. Right-handed hitter, starts with an upright stance and slightly open lower half. Simple and repeatable swing mechanics with a pull side approach. Opens front side early at time, uses strength and lift in swing to create pop to pull side. Good student.
