Brandon Merritt is a 2016 OF/ with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Chadbourn, NC who attends West Columbus. Large frame with strong, athletic present build throughout body. Ran well, posting 60 yard dash time of 7.04 seconds. Hits from spread stance, quick foot up-foot down trigger, short swing quick to the zone, generates good bat speed, has quality barrel control, line drive swing plane with very good strength off the barrel. Has power to both gaps with more coming, does good job of using whole field. Showed well defensively in the OF as well. Good first step, moves to ball well with solid athleticism throughout actions. Fields cleanly, quick release with good extension through release. Quality arm strength with accuracy to target, up to 82 MPH. Named to 2015 Atlantic Coast Top Showcase Top Prospect List.
