Sam Canales is a 2020 C/3B/IF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Corpus Christi, TX who attends Ray. Long and lean athletic build, plenty of room to get stronger. Live bodied athletic actions behind the plate, is quick in his shifting and exchange, plenty of raw arm strength with a compact arm action and release, tends to depend on his athleticism over strong fundamental footwork at times but will learn his way through this as the game speeds up. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with a busy low hand load, has quick hands with very good feel for the barrel, hitter's hands, creates bat speed with pull to mid field contact. Projectable player with athleticism for his position, will continue to improve. Excellent student.
