Calvin Kowalik is a 2020 SS/RHP/IF with a 6-3 179 lb. frame from San Marcos, TX who attends St. John Paul II Catholic HS. Long and lanky athletic build, lots of room to get stronger, projects well physically. 7.42 runner, has smooth actions in the infield, fluid arm stroke with a low effort release, hands are good at the ball, probable third base future as he grows but has shortstop actions at present. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread open stance with a long and loose swing, creates some bat speed but will need to shorten his path as the game gets faster. Also pitched, side step/leg raise delivery with a loose and easy arm, low effort mechanics. Fastball topped out at 81 mph with nice tailing life. Tended to slow his arm on his curveball and still developing feel for the pitch. Solid all around athlete who should keep improving in all areas. Good student.
