Tyler Landwehr is a 2016 C/OF/2B with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Encinitas, CA who attends La Costa Canyon HS. Medium frame with solid build and overall strength throughout. Hits with quick toe tap trigger, coils hip inward slightly into load, quick hands with short path to ball and overall advanced contact skills. Line drive swing plane and approach, has good feel for hitting, stays balanced throughout. Shows soft hands when receiving behind the plate, lower set with good flex and balance, explodes out of stance pretty well, quick release with pop time as low as 2.01 seconds. Moves to ball well in the OF with choppy footwork, fields cleanly and shows quick release, OF velocity up to 79 MPH. Pitched as well, side step delivery with sound mechanics throughout. Rotational mechanics with loose arm action, FB worked 79-81 with good cutting action. Missed in tight, hard slider with good tilt; also showed power splitter with tumbling action. Has feel for pitching. Good student.
