Barrington is a very athletic 5-11 outfielder from central Florida. He got our attention right away by running a blazing 6.53 60 on one of the slowest tracks we’ve run players on (very wet). He came back and ran a 6.56 on his second run, too. On a hard surface that’s probably something in the 6.3’s. Barrington doesn’t hit high gear until a few strides after he gets going but when the jets kick in, he’s flying! Barrington showed some arm strength, throwing 83 mph from the outfield and 80 mph from the mound with a low, slinging arm action and he impressed us in centerfield during the games with his instincts and breaks on fly balls. The big question with Barrington will be his bat. He’s not physically strong right now and also doesn’t appear to have received much hitting instruction. Barrington can make contact but it’s mostly ground ball type contact. With strength and instruction he can definitely improve greatly. We see Barrington as a great junior college project for the right program who could end up blossoming down the road. He can run, throw and field at a very high level now and he plays hard and has a great attitude from what we saw. Keep a close eye on this speedster.
