Ryan Weber is a 2008 RHP with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from St. Petersburg, FL who attends Clearwater Central HS. He has a small framed build but is getting stronger and more physical. Weber has been one of the most successful pitchers in his age group over the past few years and is very polished and in command on the mound. He throws from a low 3/4's whippy arm action that is deceptive to right handed hitters. His fastball was 88-90, touched 91 mph in Cincinnati with hard plus sinking and running action in to right handed hitters. Weber's out pitch is a big breaking 81 mph frisbee slider that is a perfect compliment to his hard running fastball. Weber will mix in a quality change up during games but didn't in the showcase environment. He has pin point command of his pitches and knows how to use his FB/SL to get hitters very off balance. Weber is the type of pitcher who is very effective pitching in the mid to upper 80's; if he were ever to be able to throw in the low 90's with the same type of life on his fastball he would be just nasty. He has a verbal commitment to Florida.

Ryan Weber is a 2008 RHP with a 5'11'', 160 lb. frame from St. Petersburg FL, who attends Clearwater Central HS. He has a thin, lean young body that hasn't started to get strong yet. Weber was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. He throws from an easy, well paced delivery with a full, easy arm action and a low 3/4's to sidearm release point. His delivery isn't going to make right handed hitters too comfortable even before they try to hit his stuff. Weber's fastball was 85-87 mph and topped out at 89. He has excellent life on his fastball, sinking and boring down in the strike zone and Weber has the ability to paint both sides of the plate with it. Weber's 78 mph slider is tight and sharp and he is able to get good 2-plane break on it most of the time from the low release point. He's thrown a change up in the past but didn't show one in Fort Myers. The radar gun has never been important to Weber in the past but you can see him getting stronger and starting to throw harder. His pitchability is among the best in the 2008 class and if he starts to throw in the low 90's with the same type of approach and movement, watch out! He knows how to get hitters out and how to win and will pitch very high with just the stuff he has right now. Weber is also a very good student.

Ryan Weber is a 5'9" 140 pound 2008 right handed pitcher, shortstop, and third baseman from Clearwater Central High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. He has a smaller frame that is thin and has room for added muscle. Ryan throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with a long loopy arm action that is very loose. He pitches down in the zone with good command of all three pitches and keeps hitters off balance. His mechanics are smooth and he ends up in a good position to field the ball which he does very well. His fastball is at 81 mph and he throws both a sinker and cutter with it. His sinker has very hard boring action into a right handed hitters hands which allow him to get a lot of ground balls. He throws his slider at 71 mph and it has good horizontal movement on it. He also throtws a knuckle ball at 68 mph. At the plate, Weber starts with a quiet set up and has some good hand strength. He has a flat level swing and shows good bat head skills. He has ok bat speed and showed some decent power. He sprayed the ball to all fields with authority and should continue to get better as he adds strength. Ryan also has some decent actions in the field.
