Matthew Schwenk is a 2017 1B/RHP with a 6-4 190 lb. frame from Leesburg, FL who attends Tavares. Large frame, projectable lean build with room to fill out. Right handed hitter, open front foot position with exaggerated spread stance. Medium leg lift trigger, gets foot down early and waits. Deep hand load, gets bat through path with solid bat speed and strength. Dips backside some, shows lift in swing plane, flashes solid feel for using the barrel, working most comfortably to middle of the field, power potential with some carry when squared off of the barrel. Looks comfortable around the bag at first base, quick transfer, solid arm strength. Also pitches, long arm-action, works to a lower 3/4's arm slot. Fastball up to 82 mph early, could use more lower-half in delivery, more velocity should be coming. Works quickly, has aggressive demeanor and approach, fills up the strike zone. Also mixes in curveball with sweeping 10/4 shape and solid depth. Very good student.
