Connor Stapleton is a 2016 RHP/1B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Staten Island, NY who attends Staten Island Academy. Extra-large, athletic frame with long limbs and projects well with room to fill out with additional strength. Works exclusively out of the stretch, three-quarter arm slot and repeats delivery well. Drives towards the plate with lower half, gets on top of the ball and fills the zone with a fastball-slider combo. Fastball topped at 78 mph with slight running life to arm side, works in and out well. Tight spin on slider up to 72 mph, shows short tilting life. Takes short steps fielding off the first base bag, good arm strength and carry across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a small toe tap trigger. Upper body swing and uses hands well, simple mechanics with some lift at contact and ability to hit to all fields showing contact skills. Good student.
