Orlando Ortiz is a 2016 RHP/SS with a 6-4 180 lb. frame from Kissimmee, FL who attends Osceola HS. Large frame with athletic, slender present build and excellent room for continued growth remaining. Starts delivery with quick rocker step back into high leg kick, balances well over rubber and drives downhill. Utilizes lower half with good direction and drive to the plate. Quick arm with loose, clean arm action that projects well. Fastball worked 79-83 and topped at 84, arm is in synch with the rest of delivery with consistency. FB is heavy with good riding life. Generates plane from high three quarters slot. Showed curveball with 10/4 shape and good, late sweep. Pitch is sharp and has ability to miss bats. Did a very good job working down in the zone and getting weak contact in addition to swings-and-misses. Filled up the zone with both pitches and has advanced command profile. Named to 2016 World Uncommitted Top Prospect List. Good student.
