Alex Guzman is a 2017 C/ with a 5-11 187 lb. frame from Lawrenceville, GA who attends Collins Hill. Medium-large frame with good present strength, still has some physical projection remaining. Primary catcher, looks the part behind the plate. Developing receiving skills, but shows some potential defensively. Quick footwork, can get a bit ahead of himself at times, but shows solid arm-strength and online, accurate throws to bases. Popped as low as 2.00 seconds in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, aggressive hand load with toe-tap timing mechanism. Aggressive approach, likes to get to his frontside early, shows some comfort in working to the opposite field. Developing bat speed, has some feel for the barrel, could improve with better, more consistent balance and quiet lower half. Very good student.
