Skelton is an "04" catcher from Nebraska. At 5'9/175 he looks strong. He popped right around 2 flat in CR without cheating a bit. He threw to 2B with 75 mph velocity on the money. He moves and receives well behind the plate. At the plate he showed a nice LH swing and some good hitting skills. He didn't show a lot of power potential with the wood, but that might come later. He kept looking better and better the more he hit. Brandon is a very good student.

Skelton is a 5 foot 9 catcher who at 165 pounds can catch, throw and swing the wood as good as most 200 pounders. He showed receiving ability with a nice set-up and comfotable defensive athleticism. He moves around easily behind the plate and shows a good reaction to wild pitches in the dirt, blocking all of them. He can move his feet and get out from behind the plate in a hurry. Combined with 75 mph arm strength on his throw to second base, he can make an impact defensively in a College program. He has a good swing and some mechanical advantages with wood. His bat-speed was very good, the bat remained level throughout his swing and he hit the ball out in front of the plate. He stayed inside the ball and created backspin that would suggest the possibility of good carry in the field. He hit the ball hard once he got the bat going, but at times we noticed a hesitation on his trigger. He is a junior that will likely get bigger and stronger and should be followed very closely by top College programs. We think he will hit and we know he is capable of catching at the next level. Keep a close eye on him.
