2015 Mid Atlantic Top Prospect Showcase
Matthew Rubayo is a 2016 OF/RHP, 1B with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Skillman, NJ who attends Montgomery High School. Big large athletic build with present strength in body. Hits from a square stance, has an aggressive approach, showed gap to gap power potential with hard contact to opposite field and pull power. Hits ball out front and gets extended through ball, has lift in swing. Gets barrel to ball consistently and makes hard contact. Has good rhythm in swing. Defensively, fields ball out front and gets through it with good footwork, ball comes out clean, is a little tall at release causing some uphill throws but over all clean release and carry on throws. Also pitched. easy arm action to 3/4 release. Fastball has good life down and zone and gets downhill at release. Curveball is developing with 11/5 spin, good mix in his quick inning. Velocity projects. Good Student. Named to Top Prospect List.
