Adrian Nieto is a 2008 C/1B with a 6'0'', 195 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends American Heritage HS. He has a strong, mature build with square shoulders and thick hips. Nieto didn't catch at the PG National as he is recovering from an arm injury but he was named an Aflac All-American based on his tools and performance over the course of the last few years. Nieto did hit and that's one of his best tools. He's a switch hitter with power bat speed from both sides of the plate. Nieto is a fluid hitter who looks like he has a long swing at times until you see him handle 90+ mph velocity with ease. He has explosive hands at the ball and stays inside the ball very well, especially when he's not trying to lift it too much. Nieto would be a prospect at any position because of his bat. He has prospect level defensive tools that we've seen frequently in the past. Nieto is a polished, savvy baseball player with very good instincts and he plays to win. He has a verbal commitment to South Florida. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.

Adrian Nieto is a 2008 C/1B with a 6'0'', 195 lb. frame from Hialeah FL, who attends American Heritage HS. He has a mature build with wide shoulders and a strong lower half. Nieto was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team. Nieto is a polished defensive catcher who is used to handling high level pitchers and it shows. He has very good arm strength, throwing 80 mph with a best pop time of 1.85 during drills. Offensively, Nieto is a legit switch-hitter with power from both sides of the plate. He has a quiet, calm approach until the bat gets going and then he takes a full, aggressive swing. Nieto's swing is a bit long but he stays on plane with the ball for a long time and has easy loft power. He's a bit quicker with better lift and extension from the left side and the ball comes off his bat easily. Nieto's bat is especially impressive when you consider he's a catcher, you don't find to many power hitting/switch hitting catching prospects. Nieto is a gamer who performs at a high level and will rank among the top catchers in the 2008 class.

Adrian Nieto is a 5'10" 205 pound 2008 catcher and first baseman from Key West, Florida who attends American Heritage High School. He has a strong thick athletic build. Adrian is a switch hitter who has big time power from both sides of the plate. He makes consistent hard contact and the ball really jumps off his bat. He has a line drive swing plane and very good bat speed. He is a little more consistent from the left side but is still dangerous from the right side. Nieto has very good speed for a catcher of his size running a 7.39 60. Behind the plate, he has excellent arm strength throwing 81 mph during the workout with a best pop time of 2.03. His throws were very accurate and he has very solid skills catching. Adrian is a highest level prospect with outstanding potential. He needs to be followed very closely in the next couple of years.
