His best pop time was 2.09 with a top velocity of 74 mph, and he had a 2.23 pop in the game. Brent throws with a low elbow and tends to push under the ball a bit. Brent is a right handed hitter with an open to close stance, and shows above average bat speed with average hand strength. He tends to pull off the ball and is best on balls on the inside half. Better balance will enable Brent to go the other way and attack balls on the outer part of the plate. He is very athletic and plays hard. Brent is an excellent student.

Brett Quimby: Quimby is a junior catcher from New York who is yet another member of this strong catching class. At 6-1, 190 lbs, Quimby has very good physical strength but moves around pretty well behind the plate for a big young kid. He has a short, efficient swing at the plate and made good hard contact during the live hitting. Quimby’s strong enough that he’s going to hit with some power. Defensively, Quimby has athletic actions and receives the ball well. His pop velocity was up to 75 mph, good arm strength for a junior. Brent is a very good student and he will end up playing high caliber college baseball. He could even create a lot of MLB scouting interest.
