Chance Melancon is a 2016 C with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Luling, LA who attends Jesuit HS. Medium, athletic build with broad shoulders and a projectable frame with additional room to fill out. Ran a 7.37 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, gains ground well with lower half on throws, short arm action with accuracy to second base, carry on throws with strength that will continue to develop. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set. Starts swing with a leg lift trigger with an upper body swing. Line drive swing plane, uses hands well in swing, creates consistent line drive contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Shows a nice feel for the barrel coming through the zone. Outstanding student.
