Matt Holland is a 2006 LHP/1B/OF with a 6'4'', 200 lb. frame from Marion IA, who attends Marion HS. He has a tall, athletic pitcher's build with projectable strength. Holland threw 86 mph from first base during drills, along with showing very good athletic mobility and balance. When he took the mound, Holland wasn't able to throw with the same velocity for some reason. He has a smooth delivery with good balance and stays on line to the plate. His fastball was 78-81 mph with good arm side running action. Holland's curveball was 69 mph with a big, early break and he did a good job throwing strikes and moving the ball in and out with both pitches. If he was throwing 86 mph from the mound Holland would move to a different group of left handed pitching prospects. Along with his fielding ability at first base, Holland showed some hitting ability as well. He has raw bat speed and flashed some raw power potential. He's also a 7.35 runner and can play some outfield. Holland is a good student.

Holland has a smooth delivery with good armside run on his fastball. Holland swings from a wide stance with good balance. Holland has a nice smooth swing with good bat speed.

Matt Holland is a 2006 LHP/1B/OF with a 6'4'', 200 lb. frame from Marion IA, who attends Marion HS. Although Holland is old for a high school senior, he has a very young and projectable body, with broad shoulders and wiry present strength. He has a tall delivery with full upper body rotation and late hips coming through in his lower half. He could pick up velocity right away with better use of his lower half. Holland does maintain a very good downward angle to the plate and an extended 3/4's release point. His arm works very well and he has nice extension front and back. Holland's fastball was 81-83 mph and pretty straight when he was throwing a 4 seamer. He turned some balls over at 77-80 that had nice running life. He kept his fastball down in the strike zone well at all times. Holland's 67-69 mph curveball had good spin and had a sharp break when he was on top. His 68 mph change up had some deception but he only threw a couple and could throw some more. Holland looks like he should be throwing harder right now and some mechanical adjustments could just add to that. He's a nice looking follow who could come on this spring. Watch him carefully. Holland is also a good student.
