Eric Gonzales is a 2016 OF/2B with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Lake Travis HS. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable frame with room to fill out with additional strength. Ran a 6.90 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, shows quickness to the ball with long strides, full arm action through the back, comes out of hand well and accurate, occasionally under the ball at release, gets good reads and takes nice jumps on fly balls. Fields the ball out front in the infield, gets on top of throws from a higher release point, longer release but online. Left-handed hitter, starts with an open and crouched stance and a medium hand set. High leg lift trigger and gets closed at contact, stays short to the ball with a a line drive swing plane. Pull approach, keeps hands in on swing, repeats mechanics well and creates line drive contact to pull side. Very good student.
