Greg Houston is a 2006 RHP/2B from Hoover High School in Hoover, AL, with a 6'1'', 165 lb. frame. He throws from a low 3/4 arm slot on the mound with a deceptive delivery and herky-jerky motion. Houston hides the ball well from the hitter with a short arm circle on the backside. He works quickly, and is very aggressive in the zone with his heavy sinking fastball that topped out at 88 mph. Houston also gets arm side run on his fastball making him very tough on right handed hitters. Also mixed in a 72 mph curveball and a better 79 mph slider with late, sharp break. With his control and life on his pitches, he will induce many groundballs and break several bats in his time. Great upside on the mound. At the plate he uses a no load approach with a short stride and quick actions. He is upright at contact and shows quick hands. Besides being very good on the mound, Houston is outstanding in the classroom.
