Sam Wurtman is a 2016 C/ with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Eddyville, KY who attends Lyon County. Medium frame, stocky, sturdy build with some present strength. Primary catcher, looks the part behind the plate, receives the ball well. Developing arm strength, has solid fundamentals and popped as low as 2.31 seconds in defensive drills. Right handed hitter, high hands sent with medium-wide base. Active hands with drop trigger, leans back slightly and has small uphill swing plane. Flashes some feel for the barrel with fluid, extended swing path. Could create more consistent impact contact with better balance, shows feel for working to middle of the field. Very good student.
