2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Peter Quintus is a 6-4, 170 lb senior right handed pitcher from Chicago with a tall, slender, long limbed body that projects. He has a short arm action and a high 3/4's release point that creates good downward plane to the plate. Quintus has a gathering pause at the top of his windup that keeps his arm in sync with his body. He was primarily a fastball pitcher during his 3 innings of work at the showcase, pitching mostly at 80-81 mph and moving his fastball in and out with an idea. Quintus's curveball was 64 mph and was loose and lacked sharpness and velocity. We didn't see a change up. There is more talent in his arm and body that hasn't come out yet and could develop with more strength and experience. Quintus is a very good student.
