2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Robert Dunning is a angular 6-0, 180 lb junior outfielder from Missouri who also plays some infield. He has wide shoulders and a projectable frame to add strength in the future. Dunning ran the 60 in 7.75 and threw 75 mph in both infield and outfield drills. He could improve his arm strength at both locations with better use of his lower half. Dunning also has a no stride, limited lower half approach at the plate. He has a short, downward swing and shows some hand strength at contact. Better fundamentals in using his core strength and legs will improve all aspects of his game. Dunning is a good athlete who projects to get very strong with his upper half, so he has some upside if he can make adjustments, especially offensively. Dunning is also a very good student.
